Window Tint in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Most people think of window tint as a hot-climate thing. Jackson is not Phoenix, but the light here is its own problem.

• Snow glare. From November to April the valley floor is white. Low winter sun bouncing off fresh snow on the drive to Teton Village or over the pass is tiring on the eyes, and side glass lets a lot of it in.
• High-altitude sun. Jackson sits at roughly 6,200 feet, so summer sun is strong. A dark interior parked at a trailhead lot or the airport all afternoon gets hot fast, and sun through the glass fades dashboards and seats over the years.
• Gear in the car. Skis, bikes, fly rods and camera bags often ride around inside the car. Darker rear glass makes it harder for anyone walking past a trailhead lot to see what is in there.
• Kids and dogs in the back seat. Rear tint takes the edge off direct sun for passengers who cannot move out of it.

We do two things with tint:

• New window tint. Tint film cut and installed on the windows you choose, most often the rear side windows and back glass, or the front side windows to match.
• Tint removal. Old tint that has turned purple, bubbled, or started peeling at the edges looks worse than no tint at all. We take it off and clean the adhesive off the glass so the window is clear again, or ready for new film.

Tint rules differ by state and by window, so tell us what you have in mind and we will talk it through with you before any film goes on. If you bought a car out of state that already has tint, that is a good conversation to have too.

Tint is priced by the vehicle and by how many windows you want covered. A coupe with two side windows and a back glass is a different job than a three-row SUV, and removing old, baked-on film takes longer than putting new film on clean glass.

1. Quote. Call or book online and tell us your vehicle and what you want: new tint, tint removal, or both.
2. Drop-off at 9:00 AM. All our appointments are drop-off at our studio on Martin Lane. There are no wait-in visits.
3. Prep and install. The glass is cleaned carefully before film goes on, because anything left on the glass shows under tint. Old film comes off first if you are replacing it.
4. Pickup. Pickup is 5:00 PM on weekdays and 3:00 PM on Saturdays. We will tell you how to treat the windows for the first few days while the film settles.

If the car is already with us, it is easy to add other work. A windshield ceramic coating ($175) makes rain and snow bead off the front glass, which tint does not do.
