A ceramic coating is a liquid glass layer that chemically bonds to your paint, glass, and plastics, adding a hard, hydrophobic shell that ordinary wax cannot match. In Jackson Hole, where winter road salt and summer UV and sap all work against your finish, a ceramic coating is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect a vehicle you plan to keep. Auto Spa by Detail Driven applies Double Black and CCI ceramic systems, and our windshield coating is one of the most popular add-ons we offer.

How Ceramic Coating Protects Against Wyoming Winters

The magnesium chloride and sand spread across Highway 22, Teton Pass, and the town of Jackson every winter are brutal on unprotected paint. Salt is corrosive, and once it works into micro-scratches it keeps eating. A ceramic coating seals the surface so contaminants sit on top of the coating instead of bonding to the clear coat, which means winter grime rinses off far more easily and does far less damage.

The hydrophobic effect is the part owners notice first: water sheets off, snow and slush struggle to stick, and a quick rinse restores that just-detailed look without a full wash. The coating also adds UV resistance, which matters at our elevation where the sun is stronger than most people realize.

Our Ceramic Windshield Coating

Our Ceramic Windshield Coating at $145 is our most popular add-on for a reason. It bonds with the silica in your glass to repel rain and snow, so precipitation beads and rolls off at speed and your wipers work less. For anyone driving over Teton Pass in a storm or heading to the airport in a whiteout, the improvement in visibility is dramatic. Because glass sees a lot of wear, we recommend reapplying about every six months.

Paint Coatings: 1-Year vs 3-Year

For paint, we offer 1-year and 3-year ceramic coatings. Both include a hand wash, full paint decontamination, clay bar treatment, and door jamb cleaning before the coating goes on paint and plastics. The difference is durability and hardness: the 3-Year Ceramic Coating is our best-value option for owners keeping their vehicle for the long haul, while the 1-Year Ceramic Coating is a great entry point.

For the best possible result, we recommend at least a 1-Step Polish before application. Coating over swirl marks and defects just locks them in — correcting the paint first means the coating protects a finish that already looks its best. Pricing scales with vehicle size, and we are always happy to quote your specific vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the product and how the vehicle is maintained. Our paint coatings are rated for one year or three years, and our windshield coating is best reapplied about every six months. Regular maintenance washes and avoiding harsh automatic car washes will help any coating reach its full lifespan.

For most owners, yes. Our winters put road salt, sand, and constant freeze-thaw grime on your paint, and our summers bring strong UV and tree sap. A ceramic coating makes all of that easier to wash off and harder to bond, which protects your paint and holds resale value on a vehicle you plan to keep.

We strongly recommend at least a 1-Step Polish first. A ceramic coating is clear and locks in whatever is underneath it, so any swirl marks or scratches present at application will be sealed in. Correcting the paint first means the coating protects a finish that already looks its best.

All of our ceramic coatings include a hand wash, paint decontamination with a clay bar, door jamb cleaning, and the ceramic coating applied to paint and plastics. Pricing scales by vehicle size, and we recommend at least a 1-Step Polish beforehand for the best results.

Keep it simple: regular gentle hand washes, avoid harsh brush-style automatic car washes, and rinse off road salt promptly in winter. The coating does the heavy lifting, but consistent maintenance is what lets it perform for its full rated life.
